Learning Camps

Whether face to face or virtual, Learning Camps are short term group events that include single-day field trip experiences such as skiing, hiking, aquariums, science centres, and short-term weekly classes such as writing workshops, presentations, canoeing, woodworking, etc.

Community Connections

Community Connections (CC) are face to face learning events that are typically one-half to one full day per week, usually between 12 and 24 weeks. At CC students participate in meaningful and hands-on activities in a class setting with a home-education flavour led by certified teachers with some community or parent instructors. Please Note: CCs do not cover all outcomes for courses.

Community Connections +

Community Connections Plus (CC+) are face to face classes, typically meeting together in person for a full day each day over the course of 30 weeks. All students participate in meaningful hands-on activities in a class setting. HCOS teachers are wholly responsible for subject areas taught. Take-home information and homework are regularly assigned.
